I tend to agree with Dr. Rasmussen that reality is “mind-first”. It seems to follow from a few small things that he notes in particular:

  1. It seems unreasonable that any given physical arrangement or complexity of matter would cause thought to spontaneously arise. The material just simply isn’t the “substance” of thought. What arrangement of atoms would the idea of the color green consist of?
  2. One can think about thinking or in fact, observe oneself thinking it seems. This seems to indicate that at the lowest level, there is an observer (or something like this)
